They all spent 2 years renovating the house & it is now a unique home from home for discerning guests in beautiful Andalucia
Villa Blanca is registered in line with stringent new Andalucian regulations & our Rental License Reference is CTC-2016097399
For the energetic Villa Blanca has a large heated pool, table tennis, an outdoor gym, rowing machine; & safe walking & cycling nearby. The villa overlooks Almenara golf course & is next to the golf academy & driving range. There's a pub-style garden room for the more sedentary (with barstools & dartboard, a full beer fridge & drinks globe) obviously called 'The Sunburnt Arms'
World-class golf courses at Real Valderrama & La Reserva are a 5 minute drive away. Golf courses at Real Sotogrande, San Roque & Alcaidesa Links are just a 10-15 minute drive away - as are the exclusive Sotogrande marina & world-famous Santa Maria Polo Club
Sotogrande is a world-class polo, sailing & golf resort - 30 minutes from Gibraltar & around 1 hour from Malaga & Jerez airports. The nightlife of Marbella & Estepona, & beachlife at Tarifa & Costa de la Luz are within an hour. Morocco is a 45 minute ferry away
Testimonials from our guests...
"Thanks for having us. This is the best villa we've stayed in. We had a near perfect time" Alex, Nigeria
"What an exceptional villa in an amazing location & setting. From the moment you walk in you just think WOW!" Hugo, Spain
"Our Family of 7 stayed in Villa Blanca, Sotogrande in August 2016 and each person (kids and adults) independently gave a big thumbs up to our stay at the Villa. Firstly, there were no surprises, well, just pleasant surprises....the Villa is exactly as it is advertised, even better in my opinion, very spacious bedrooms, living areas and entertaining spaces. Each space is well decorated to very high standards without being overdone so it still had a homely appeal. It did really feel like home away from home for us all. Sam and Darren were the most helpful and warmest hosts, on hand to attend to anything that we needed or that they anticipated we will need. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Villa Blanca and I would highly recommend it for a family vacation or a group stay! My advice is to let Sam and Darren know in time if you would like the pool heated.....different temps for different folks! Aisha, London
"A beautiful place to enjoy with friends or family. I love Villa Blanca" Row, Spain
"Spectacular house in a wonderful place, perfect holidays. The villa has all the amenities to enjoy some days of rest." Beatriz, Spain
"The villa is stunning. The way that the space is designed gives it such versatility. It offers an idyllic spot for everyone in a large group or family to have their own peace and quiet, while having the ability to transform seamlessly into a stunning space for entertaining guests. The details, subtle or striking are what make it truly stand out. The skill of its curation is that it feels exactly as you'd have chosen to design and decorate it yourself. It's somewhere to keep going back to" Oli & Catherine, Singapore
"Just stunning villa. Luxury at its best in a truly fantastic area. I can not wait to go back there." Michelle, UK
"What a fantastic villa, a true paradise that genuinely ticks all of the boxes. If you are holidaying with friends, finding that special somewhere with family or golfing with mates this villa has it all. Beautifully furnished and perfectly positioned I challenge anyone to visit and not return." Kev & Tricia, UK
"Fantastic villa, tranquil location. Very relaxing. One of my favourite places..." Vicki, Italy
"Villa Blanca is the perfect place to stay for "a best of everything" holiday. We had our best ever family holiday here. The Villa is set in a stunning location & provides high end luxury accommodation. The location is quiet & peaceful but only a few minutes drive to amenities. Sotogrande is beautiful & so much to do in the area - if you are able to drag yourself away from the Villa! Would definitely recommend & will definitely be going back." Jane, UK
"Top notch luxurious accommodation in a simply stunning setting. Unable to beat it." Kate, UK
"What a place to get away from the humdrum. If there is a better location for rest & recuperation, then someone needs to take me there. The views are immense and the way Sam has refurbished the exterior & interior, is nothing short of masterful. We've been lucky enough to be some of the first visitors, get yourself a gang and get down to Sotogrande." Pete, UK
"I stopped here on a hen weekend. Amazing!" Tracey M, UK
"I stayed here for what can only be described as a gathering of good friends. I was overwhelmed at the villa. It is exactly as Darren and Sam describe. More than that the villa allows every guest to have their own space- when I needed down time I could retire to my exquisite bedroom & chill, when I wanted to mingle - the layout allowed me to do just that. Whether a quiet chat around the pool, or a chat in the amazing outdoor lounge... It delivered. The indoor/outdoor lounge, wood burning stove meant friends could gather & wind down at the end of the day. It really is an amazing place. You won't be disappointed. If you want a family get away, a romantic weekend or to share good times with like minded friends, this is the place. Close to everything, or if you just want to hide away. Really special" Naomi, UK
"We spent a long weekend in this delightful villa, stunning location, extremely comfortable and very relaxing, we can't wait to return!" Sue & Clive, UK
"Stayed in June with my dad and in February with friends. Two very different breaks, but the villa suited both perfectly. With beautiful views and an amazing pool, the week in July was incredibly relaxing, whilst the shaded outdoor area allows you to get out of the blazing sun if needed. It's only a short drive from any of the wonderful local restaurants but the kitchen and huge dining area meant eating in was just as enjoyable. With the vibe in February a bit more lively, the spacious downstairs made it the ideal place for a party - indoors or outdoors - with lots of cool art to take in also. It's only a short from the fantastic beaches and chirringuitos which are a must see!" Will, UK
"Stunning villa, beautiful location and close enough to Gibraltar and Marbs if you fancy a day out, highly recommend." Warren and Wendy, UK
"I stayed at Villa Blanca in June for a week with my son. A fantastic villa with plenty of room and a superb layout allowing both generations to enjoy the break. Darren and Sam have fantastic knowledge of the local area regarding fine foods and beverages, from high end restaurants to the charming chirringuitos at the nearby beaches! Plenty to see and do in the area, but some of the best days were spent just chilling out at this wonderful villa!" Chris, UK
"Can honestly not recommend your place highly enough had a fantastic time, the villa was amazing the location was stunning and the hospitality was second to none" Tracey D, UK
"Great location. Fabulous villa that's very well appointed. Loads going on around:- golf, polo, beaches & beach bars (chiringuito's), Sotogrande, Tarifa etc etc. Darren & Sam were also great hosts with lots of intel on the area." Mark, UK
Great video above about Almenara Golf & Spa - we overlook the course & the golf school & practice range is next door to us

"As shameless as it sounds, I have always loved a good secret. The excitement of being in-the-know injects a little zing into my day. However, years of uncovering gossip and scandal have left me a little numb to it all. Mere tittle tattle no longer cuts the mustard; I need a bigger hit from a tête-à-tête. So, when a perfectly coiffed pearl-strung neighbour lowered her voice to a whisper and talked of a mysterious under-the-radar community, my eyebrow instantly rose in intrigue. Anthropologists can switch off now, I haven’t unearthed a long-lost African tribe or a saucy cult. However, I have discovered one of Europe’s most secretive millionaire playgrounds: Sotogrande.
Established in the sixties by a Filipino-American philanthropist, this curious gated community sits within Andalusia’s Cadiz province. Bordered by Los Alcornocales Natural Park, Sotogrande’s impeccably manicured hills slope their way down to the Andalusian coast and the area’s flashy marina. Looking towards Africa, the hush hush enclave poignantly turns its back on the rest of Spain and its neat palm-lined avenues and upscale homes create a decidedly Californian vibe. An alphabetical zone system further adds to this the toy town spirit (we were staying in Zone F, where every road begins with… yep, the letter F) – although the few ‘Soto’ locals we met were unaware of this theme, which made us feel frightfully in-the-know.
Today, despite its apparent non-existence, the luxury villas which hide within its densely wooded hills have become a magnet for the rich and famous. Each summer, royalty flock to its world-famous polo fields, film stars conduct sub rosa meets in its showy marina and politicians relax on Valderrama’s world-class fairways. Promising peace, privacy and exclusivity, what happens in Sotogrande, stays in Sotogrande. “That’s the difference between here and Marbella: we come here to hide, not to be seen,” reveals one local.
Unable to find any form of guide to this mysterious gated community (Google only throws up juicy news results when you add words like prince, heiress or polo in to the mix!), I packed my bags and headed off to our home in the hills: Villa Artea. Part of The Luxury Villa Collection’s flashy portfolio the ultra-modern Ibiza style residence marries white-on-white minimalism and glamorous furnishings with statement glass walls which open to create a striking indoor-outdoor setup.
It didn’t take long for us to realise that the 7-bedroom villa was a serious party pad, “our neighbours have never complained about the noise, so have fun!” signed off the welcome book…which sits in the lounge alongside the guitar, the disco ball, the microphone and the bongos. “Oh, and if you find any alcohol, it’s yours.” A quick scan revealed unopened premium spirits at every turn.
With a wonderfully rebellious streak evident in everything from the grown-ups’ playground kit to the artwork (Blondie, Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss egg you on from their glittery pop art prints at mealtimes), Villa Artea is certainly equipped to host an epic house party or two. Upstairs the bedrooms are decked out with oversized leather-studded headboards, playful contemporary art and DJ decks with plenty of vinyl to work your way through. My master bedroom was fringed with oversized windows looking out across Sotogrande’s sloping fairways, with a large private balcony and an outdoor gym.
Downstairs, free-flowing dining and living areas melt in to the lush grounds, with glass walls transporting you to the Instagram-worthy pool and pristine lawns. Various terraces house additional gardens and lounge areas – it even has its own games-filled pub beer garden: The Sunburnt Arms. If you’re hosting skills are up to it, the main roof terrace holds 80!
I think that should keep this year’s Love Island villa envy at bay, don’t you?
Foodies are well catered for in this neck of the woods, too. The marina is handy for day-to-day dining and a spot of people watching (particularly in summer when the yachtie hub is brimming with VIPs). Those happy to drive further afield will find Michelin-starred Kabuki Raw offering world-class Japanese cuisine and more authentic local tapas in the ramparts of ancient hilltop castles. However, our favourite meal came courtesy of the villa’s concierge partners. Keen to cater to guests’ every whim, they have pulled off all manner of bizarre requests, from having the new McLaren sports car waiting in the drive to finding a golden retriever for a guest’s children to pet daily. Despite there being just two of us dining the dream team quickly found a talented local chef who put together a bespoke menu in response to our brief.
Two hours before dinner Chef Curro appeared, brandishing a smile and a bowl of raw ingredients which had been presented with a florist’s eye. After a teasing amuse bouche of fresh anchovies with a tangy tomato dressing he presented us with a spectacular roasted octopus on a bed of creamed potato. Then came the main affair; a succulent rice dish heavy with freshly caught squid, prawns, langoustines and clams. No sooner had he presented our dessert and he was out of the door, leaving the kitchen even cleaner than he had found it.
That is so Soto." Jessica Baldwin, April 2018
